Requesting a backup restore
The right restore point depends on what needs to be recovered and when it last worked correctly.
Define what to recover
- Identify the file, database, website, mailbox, or server.
- Give the last known good date and time, including the time zone.
- Explain whether current data should be preserved.
- Name the person authorised to approve recovery.
Confirm availability
Backup coverage, retention, and restore options depend on your service. Support must confirm which recovery points are available.
Agree the restore plan
A restore can overwrite newer data or temporarily interrupt a service. Confirm the scope and expected impact before the work begins.
The existence of a managed service does not automatically confirm that every item is backed up.
