Troubleshooting email that will not send
A failed message can come from a connection, account, recipient, or policy issue. The error details help identify which.
Check the message
- Confirm the recipient address is correct.
- Check the connection and whether other messages can send.
- Read the delivery failure notice and save its error code.
- Check whether a large attachment is involved.
Try the service’s webmail
If webmail works but your mail application does not, mention that in your ticket. It helps separate an application problem from an account or mail delivery issue.
Send useful details
Include the time, affected account, mail application, and error code. Remove confidential message content before attaching a delivery failure notice.
Do not change SPF, DKIM, or DMARC records without checking the impact on every service that sends mail for your domain.
