Connecting your domain to your hosting
Your domain and hosting work together through DNS. Gather the correct records before making changes.
Find your hosting details
Use the DNS or nameserver values in your hosting account or welcome email. The correct values depend on your hosting service; there is no single DNS configuration for every customer.
Check the current records
Before editing, save a copy of your existing DNS records. Pay particular attention to email records so a website change does not interrupt your mail.
- Identify which provider currently manages your DNS.
- Confirm whether you need to change nameservers or individual records.
- Use only the values supplied for your own hosting account.
- Check the website and email after making the change.
If the domain still does not connect
Allow for DNS caches to refresh. If the problem continues, open a hosting ticket with your domain, the record you changed, and the time of the change.
Do not remove MX, SPF, DKIM, or other email records just to connect a website. Ask for help if you are unsure.
